“It is never too early to encourage long-term savings.” — Ron Lewis

Welcome to the Pocket Money Handling page for students at Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School. We understand that managing pocket money can be challenging for students, especially when they are away from home. That’s why we have put in place a system to ensure that students’ pocket money is handled efficiently and transparently.

Pocket Money System: Our school provides every student with pocket money to use for small needs while at the boarding school. The pocket money is kept by our school accountant, and the whole process of requesting and disbursing pocket money is done using a special computer software. This software also keeps a record of all transactions, making it easy to track expenses and ensure that every student receives their pocket money in a timely and transparent manner.

Handling of Pocket Money: Students are not allowed to keep money by themselves while at school. This is to ensure the safety and security of all students, and to prevent any misunderstandings or disagreements among students. The school accountant is responsible for the safekeeping and disbursement of all pocket money. This ensures that every student receives their pocket money on time, and that there are no discrepancies in the amount of money received.

Common Uses of Pocket Money: The pocket money provided to students at Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School is intended to cover small expenses that students may have while at school. This includes the purchase of stationery, personal hygiene tools, bus fare, and social and religious contributions, among others. By providing students with pocket money, we hope to help them manage their expenses and develop good financial habits.

We encourage all students to use their pocket money wisely, and to avoid unnecessary spending. We believe that by teaching students how to manage their pocket money responsibly, we are helping them to develop important life skills that will serve them well in the future.

Students are also given training on benefits and proper methods of saving their money.
