The drug use and abuse seminar held at Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School was an invaluable opportunity to educate students on the dangers of drug use and equip them with life skills to make positive choices. With drug use becoming an increasingly prevalent issue in today’s society, it is essential that young people are aware of the risks and consequences of drug abuse.
During the seminar, students learned about the effects of various drugs on the body and mind, as well as the risks of addiction and long-term health problems. They also gained an understanding of the social and psychological factors that contribute to drug use, including peer pressure, stress, and mental health issues.
One of the main aims of the seminar was to teach students how to resist peer pressure and make positive choices. Through interactive activities and discussions, students learned how to identify situations where they may be pressured to use drugs, and how to say no assertively and confidently. They also learned about alternative ways to cope with stress and difficult emotions, such as exercise, meditation, and talking to a trusted friend or family member.
The seminar was led by our friends from YES Tanzania, an organization that specializes in life skills training for young people. Their facilitators engaged the students with interactive and engaging activities that made the seminar both informative and enjoyable.
Overall, the drug use and abuse seminar at Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School was a resounding success. The students were enthusiastic and engaged, and we hope that they left with a greater understanding of the risks of drug use and the life skills needed to make positive choices. We would like to thank YES Tanzania for their expertise and support in facilitating the seminar, and we hope to continue working with them to provide more life skills training to young people in the future.
