Cleanliness is an essential aspect of our lives, and it plays a crucial role in promoting a healthy environment for all of us. That is why Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School in partnership with City Clean Tanzania conducted a Cleanliness Day initiative to promote responsible waste management and reduce environmental pollution. The event took place at the Mailisita market and its surrounding places in Mailisita village.
On the day of the event, the students arrived at the market in the morning, accompanied by their teachers and a representative from City Clean Tanzania. The students were provided with cleaning tools by City Clean Tanzania to facilitate the cleaning process. The students were then divided into groups with leaders, and they began collecting trash. Most of the waste found was used plastic bottles that were littering the market and its surroundings. The students collected the trash, put them into sacks, and measured their weight to keep track of the amount of waste collected.
After collecting the trash, the waste was taken to the village dumping place for burning. This was a necessary step to ensure that the waste was disposed of properly and did not continue to pollute the environment. The efforts of the students, teachers, and City Clean Tanzania representatives in cleaning the market and its surroundings will go a long way in promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for the people of Mailisita village.
One significant aspect of this event was that the Geography teacher used this activity to teach students a subtopic on environmental pollution, highlighting important aspects on types of pollution, waste disposal and recycling. This initiative not only promotes responsible waste management but also instills a sense of community responsibility in the students. Such initiatives are crucial in promoting a cleaner and healthier environment for us and future generations.
In conclusion, the Cleanliness Day conducted by Kilimahewa Modern Secondary School and City Clean Tanzania is a commendable initiative that deserves recognition. The efforts of the students, teachers, and City Clean Tanzania representatives in cleaning the Mailisita market and its surroundings will go a long way in promoting responsible waste management and reducing plastic pollution in the environment. It is essential for us all to take responsibility for our environment and work towards a cleaner and healthier future.
